How can we help you?
Answers to the most common questions.
Device and measurement
How accurate is the Aufmaster?
We currently work with a tolerance of approximately 2 %. For typical applications such as site measurement, inventory or documentation this is perfectly sufficient in practice.
The accuracy depends, among other things, on the cable type, the calibration and whether the cable is already connected.
Which cables and cross-sections can I measure with the Aufmaster?
The Aufmaster can measure cables from a cross-section of 0.25 mm² upwards, provided at least two metallically conductive cores are present. Cross-sections up to 16 mm² are supported for cut detection.
The clamps supplied as standard are suitable for cross-sections up to 70 mm² and can be exchanged for the supplied measuring tips if required.
Can I measure single-core cables?
Not yet. The measuring method requires at least two cores with the same cross-section. We are already working on a solution for single-core cables.
Can I measure aluminium cables?
Yes, aluminium cables can generally be measured as well. What matters is that it is a metallic cable and that the requirements for the measurement are met.
Can I measure fibre-optic cables?
No. The measuring method works with electrical signals and therefore requires metallic conductors.
Can I measure cables that are already connected?
In principle yes – as long as the cable is de-energised and no short circuit is detected.
However, we recommend using cables that are free or not yet connected, because the measurement can become less accurate on cables that are already connected.
Why does the correct cable type matter for the measurement?
Different cables have different electrical properties. The correct cable type gives the system the information it needs to measure as precisely as possible.
How important is cable quality for the measurement?
Differences in the electrical properties of a cable can affect the measurement. With standardised cable types this is usually not an issue in everyday work.
The Aufmaster cable database is also being expanded continuously.
How long does the battery last and how long does charging take?
The battery is fully charged within about two hours and lasts up to two weeks on the construction site, depending on use.
This makes the device suitable for mobile use on site and in the warehouse without having to be charged constantly.
How do I connect the Aufmaster to my smartphone or tablet?
The Aufmaster connects to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. The device can then be used for measurements directly from the Aufmaster app.
Do I need a separate Aufmaster for every cable drum?
No. If you do not work with several cable drums at the same time, you can simply remove the Aufmaster from one drum after finishing, attach it to another drum, configure it and carry on working.
If several drums are to be processed simultaneously, several Aufmaster devices can be used in parallel.
App and working on site
Do the Aufmaster and the app work without internet on the construction site?
Yes. The cable data required for length and cut detection is stored on the smartphone or tablet, so measurements can be taken without an active internet connection.
When using the Aufmaster Cloud, the measurement records are synchronised as soon as an internet connection is available again. This requires that you have signed in once beforehand with an internet connection.
Which languages does the app support?
The Aufmaster app is currently available in German, English, French and Spanish.
Do I need training to use the app?
No. The app is deliberately designed to be as simple and intuitive as possible, so it can be used straight away in everyday work.
How quickly can I get started with Aufmaster?
Thanks to the existing cable database with around 1,700 pre-calibrated cable types and the simple setup, getting started is generally very quick.
Your own cable types can additionally be calibrated if required.
Can I use site measurement and inventory at the same time?
Yes. Site measurement and inventory can both be used within the shared Aufmaster system. This means the captured data can be managed centrally instead of working with separate isolated solutions.
Cable data and calibration
Which cables are already in the cable database?
The Aufmaster cable database currently contains around 1,700 pre-calibrated cable types from various manufacturers and in various cross-sections.
The database is being expanded continuously. In addition, you can calibrate your own cable types at any time and then use them permanently.
What do I do if my cable type is not in the database yet?
New or special cable types can be calibrated directly with the Aufmaster and then stored permanently in the system.
The calibration only has to be carried out once per cable type.
Do I have to create all my cables myself?
No. Master data can be imported conveniently from an Excel file, for example. We support our customers directly with the import if required.
Cable types that have not been calibrated yet have to be calibrated physically with the Aufmaster once.
What happens with new or unknown cable types?
New or special cable types can be calibrated individually at any time and then stored permanently in the system.
Cloud, team and data
Can I have several employees working with Aufmaster at the same time?
Yes. The team function lets you invite additional people to an existing company account and give them different user permissions.
This allows the site and the office, for example, to work together from the same up-to-date data.
Can I use several Aufmaster devices at the same time?
Yes. Several devices can be used and managed within one team or company.
Is my data visible to all team members?
The team and permission management controls which permissions individual users receive.
Can I structure projects and lists individually?
Yes. Projects, lists and folders can be adapted flexibly to your existing workflows – by site, date or customer, for example.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Captured data can be exported as a CSV file, for example.
We are also working on API and interface solutions for direct integration into existing systems.
Is my data secure and GDPR-compliant?
Yes. All data is processed in compliance with the GDPR and stored on servers in Germany.
Does Aufmaster work on large construction sites as well?
Yes. Central documentation is particularly beneficial on larger projects, because information can be synchronised and shared between the site and the office.
What happens when several employees or devices work at the same time?
One Aufmaster device can be connected to one smartphone at a time. At the same time, several Aufmaster devices can be used within a company, so that several employees or cable drums can be handled in parallel.
The data captured this way can then be documented and synchronised within the shared system.
Buying and using
Where can I buy the Aufmaster?
The Aufmaster can be ordered directly from our online shop.
We also work with numerous wholesale partners.
Can I continue using my existing processes?
Yes. Aufmaster is not meant to change existing processes unnecessarily, but above all to digitise, simplify and centralise them.
Can Aufmaster be integrated into existing systems?
Captured data can already be exported. We are also working on API and interface solutions for direct integration into existing systems.
What is the biggest benefit of Aufmaster?
Aufmaster brings together information from the site, the warehouse and the office in one place.
This reduces manual processes, saves time and documents measurements verifiably, while everyone involved works from the same up-to-date data.
